(YELLOW SPRINGS, OH) November 17, 2021. We are saddened by the passing of Gene Fischer, Greene County Sherriff and send our condolences to the Fischer Family and broader Greene County Community as this is a loss for all of us.

Fischer's positive reach and commitment to excellence was unmistakable. “I will miss Gene’s professional and balanced approach to serving all communities in Greene County, in particular the Village of Yellow Springs,” said Josue Salmeron, Village Manager.

Village Council President, Brian Housh, remembers Fischer's thoughtfulness, and his open and respectful style of promoting public safety. "Our region experienced a great loss," he states. "Fischer will be remembered as an effective & authentic leader and a good friend to the Village.”

Fischer's impact extended throughout the county, including to the surrounding police departments. "Sheriff Fischer’s contributions to his community and the entire Greene County area can only be summed up as extraordinary," noted Chief Burge (YSPD).
