QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a class B endorsement
- Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license.
- Training and/or experience as a general maintenance and repair technician.
- Certified Water Distribution 1 by the State of Ohio
- The ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Passes the Village of Yellow Springs equipment training course within 6 months of hiring
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Installs, maintains, and repairs water distribution system. Works directly under Superintendent- Electric/Water Distribution.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Operates a valve exercising machine doing yearly valve maintenance.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs components of the water distribution system.
- Drives trucks, pulls trailers, and performs routine vehicle maintenance.
- Repairs and replace broken fire hydrants
- Repairs and installs new water main as needed
- Runs GIS equipment to insure precise locations of the Village of Yellow Springs assets
- Locates O.U.P.S. for underground wiring and digging purposes.
- Performs wiring and other electrician functions at Village facilities.
- Operates tools for power plant maintenance (e.g., welder, drill press, bench grinder, body grinder, lathe, top and die cutting torch, etc.).
- Performs custodial duties (e.g., mows grass, washes and waxes vehicles, sweeps and mops floors, etc.).
- Handles a variety of troubleshooting.
- Lifts and moves up to one hundred (100) pounds a distance of thirty (30) yards
- Follows all Village safety and health policies and procedures
- Attends safety meeting and seminars.
- Will be on call on a rotating schedule
- Maintains required licenses and/or certificates.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- Must answer phone calls and check emails regularly
- Keeps all equipment clean and serviced
- Paints fire hydrants
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attends workshops or seminars related to duties performed.
- Assists other departments of the Village (e.g., ground for electric, street with snow plowing, parks with mowing grass, cleaning sewer lines, water and water treatment plants, maintenance work details, etc.).
- Demonstrates and maintains satisfactory public relations.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Must go thru Northwest Line school module 1 (one year course with 2000 hours)
- Mandatory on call rotation
- Maintains valid driver’s license.

PHYSICALLY DEMANDING AND HAZARDOUS WORKING CONDITIONS INHERENT IN THIS JOB DESCRIPTION:
