Now Accepting Limited Subscribers in Village Fiber Pilot Project
The Village of Yellow Springs, in cooperation with Miami Valley Educational Computer Association and Springs-Net, is taking the next step toward this goal with a pilot project offering Fiber to the Premises (FTTP) internet service.
By optimizing internet access with fiber optics, Yellow Springs will address strategic economic, communication, and municipal service goals…
• Will attract new business ventures
• Will provide much faster and more affordable internet service to Yellow Springs residents and businesses
• Will provide new revenue streams for our Village that will stay in our Village
• Will be a backbone for wi-fi access downtown and in other areas
• Will create options for video streaming and multicast video as well as telephone service
• Will provide a locally controlled resource that will resist attempts to override Net Neutrality by large telecom carriers
• Can utilize smart grid functionality for utility, health care, and emergency services
The scope of the Pilot project is limited to 250 connections, which will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
