Phil Hawkey, Acting Village Manager
A. Council Items:
Award of Engineering
Contract - Dayton Street Project :
This is our state Issue 2 project for sanitary, water and pavement
improvements this year on Dayton Street from East Enon Road to Stafford
Street. Choice One Engineering from Sidney, Ohio ranked first of
the eight firms that submitted using the new qualification based
ranking system.
Annexation of Education Village, Inc. Property: This
is the 44.448-acre tract at the northwest corner of Dayton Street
and East Enon Road purchased recently by the CIC for the commerce
park.
Award of Utility Van Bid : This is the new tool/supply
truck for the Electric & Water Distribution Crew. The low bid
from Buckeye Ford of London, Ohio slightly over the $35,000 budget
at $35,239.46. Staff suggests acceptance of the $200 option for 2
small glass panels on each side of the van to provide more light
to the storage area.
B. Agenda Planning:
Proposed Utility Shut-off
Ordinance: Staff council
members Hardman and Rickenbach met with staff to suggest modifications
to the text. We were not able to contact Chester Willcox.
Award of Engineering Contract - Northern
Gateway Project : Continue to review the top 3 of the
8 submittals. Should have a Resolution for the May 2 nd meeting.
East Enon Road Electric Project: Recent conversations
hold hope for a possible new route for a portion of the new section
of the power line (the east-west section between 68 & E. Enon
Rd.) The new route would be to the advantage of both the Village
Electric Distribution Department and the area residents.
Final Thoughts…
I attended the pre-construction
meeting for the Traffic
Signal Project. On April 12th. Construction will begin
the first of May with the pole foundations and underground work
with completion in the fall.
Planting is underway at the Village farms. I will have information
for the next council meeting for the proposal from Flatter Farms
for the extension of the leases on the cultivated fields.
