Yellow Springs Government
An active, vocal citizenry and a responsive governing body and
administration are the hallmarks of government in Yellow Springs.
Village government offices, including the Police Department, finance
department, Public Works Department and the Village manager's office
are located in the Bryan Community Center, 100 Dayton Street.
The Village's governing body is a nonpartisan, five-member Village
Council. Three of the five members are elected every two years,
in the November general election in odd-numbered years. The two
candidates receiving the most votes are elected to four-year terms,
and the candidate with the third highest total receives a two-year
term.
The chief administrative officer of the Village is the Village manager,
who is hired by the Council to supervise the day-to-day activities
of the Village. The manager is currently Eric Swansen.
